C01 - Chess or checkers: which game are you playing?

Classroom / Saturday May 13 AM / 2 hours

As organizations grow, so does their complexity. Checkers is a fast paced reaction to your opponent’s moves, with pieces that are all interchangeable. Chess is about thinking ahead and using strategy, with each piece having different moves than their counterparts. To raise your leadership game, start playing chess not checkers. Developing your pieces is one of the most important actions in playing chess. A knight (chess piece) is less effective in a corner than out in the middle of the board. In the same way, leaders must develop their teams and add value into them, making sure they are well positioned and utilizing their individual strengths to help the organization win as a whole.

If you’re not growing, you’re not gaining in experience. You’re just repeating the same experience over and over again – no matter how long you’ve been on the job.

During this class, we will discuss four practical moves that will help you raise your game to the next level.

This class is for people who want to take their leadership game to the next level within a growing organization.
