There is no doubt that the Engineer(driver/operator) is one of the most critical jobs on any fire company. This class is a fast-paced look at effective, time-tested techniques, tricks of the trade and tips for Engineers.

This course will review tactical considerations on a variety of incidents uniquely from the perspective of the Engineer. The wide variety of incidents a fire company responds to requires the Engineer to be on his/her game at all times. Left Seat Tips and Tactics is geared towards current, newly promoted, and step-up engineers, as well as those firefighters seeking to promote and company officers looking to provide quality company level training to their crew.

INSTRUCTOR: ick Peppard is a 14-year veteran of the fire service who has worked on engine, truck and rescue companies in several fire and EMS agencies across the State ranging from small suburban to large metropolitan departments. Nick currently works as a Captain at the Holley-Navarre Fire District in Santa Rosa County, Florida and is assigned as the company officer on Engine Co. 41 on the District’s westside. He has served in the ranks of firefighter, engineer, lieutenant and captain. He holds an A.S. degree in Fire Science and an A.S. degree in EMS Technology. He is a Florida and Nationally registered paramedic, AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS instructor, VFIS Instructor and holds the following Florida State Certifications: Fire Officer 2, Instructor 2, Live Fire Training Instructor, Inspector 1, Investigator 1, Pump Operator, Hazmat Technician (previously working 5 years on FL Task Force 2).  Nick is also a Paramedic-Field Training Officer with Lifeguard Ambulance Service in Santa Rosa County. Nick co-wrote his department’s intensive Engineer Development Program and actively teaches both the New Firefighter Orientation and Engineer Development Programs. Nick is the owner/operator of North Florida Fire and EMS Training based in Navarre, FL. Nick has taught locally for several years and has instructed both lecture and HOT classes at the Great Florida Fire School located in Fort Myers, FL for the past 2 years. Nick is a student of the craft and is always pushing to better himself through conferences, training, higher education and real-world experience.
